Idezine Floral Patterns

These are floral patterns, not notebooks, but still relevant to my context of the brief. The designs vary in colour schemes, and styles:

The two above are completely different in style from one another, but they would still make good notebook patterns, but for two completely different audiences. I prefer the top one as it is much more brighter and vibrant, I pick a notebook because of an exciting cover to mask the sometimes boring contents.

Again, completely different, the top is bright and very repetitive, where the lower one has a similar shape - the pointed flower, but much more neutral colours, and reminds me a little of wallpaper.

The top image is interesting, as the centre line of the flower runs across the entire page, this is a simple line drawing done well. The bottom one is very precise too, but with the use of the squarish shapes and the very straight lines it seems more geometric. The colours used work well.

These two patterns are much more complex because of the branching leaves and swirls, I love the colours in the lower image as it looks like a light is shining on the centre.

I like the overlapping individual flowers, as it seems more spontaneous, but it is still a pattern.

This is a different way of creating a flower, although it does remind me more of snowflakes, especially with the colour scheme.

Again, another pattern of overlapping individual shapes. The colours are not ones I would use but they do work.

Very simple design but the pattern is harder to figure out.

Ryman

Some notebooks from Ryman Stationary:

- An extremely cool Where's Wally notebook, its not flowers or pattern really, but I just liked it!

 - This wouldn't be my preference of notebook but it just shows the simplicity that the designs can be.

- This is a really cool but different notebook cover, I like the arrangement of black squares between the different colours which are organised in some kind of spectrum.

- This is an illustrative colourful cover, I like how the flower appears to be detailed but close up it is actually quite simple. The inside pages are quite decorative too, which probably explains why this is £9.99.

Guitar Soundholes

For one of my ideas I want to make the skulls eyes, guitar soundholes. Here are some examples I have been looking at...

These are customisable patterned notebooks, from Funky Pigeon. The top one is a different idea, as illustrations of sweets and cakes have been used but actually photographing them as a pattern is a different idea. But even with the illustration of the cupcakes, they are completely different to the previous cupcake patterns I have looked at. These are slightly more realistic, with the brown =ing on the cases, from the oven.

Affordable Notebooks

My competition! £1.50 from Marks and Spencer. A simple yet eye catching design. The cover looks like its made out of card so this is why it would be cheap to reproduce.

Another Marks and Spencer book, for £3.00. This is much more feminine in style and colour. It has a softer feel to it as it isn't vectorised like the previous one.

Very simple yet effective design! The line sketch is quite detailed but still maintains simplicity through single lined out line!

I am not as keen on this one, it seems very traditional, for a more mature lady.

Laptop Skin

It isn't quite a notebook, but it was the pattern that drew me in!

I love the minimal colour scheme here, and the simple shapes for the flowers!

Paperchase

I love paperchase notebooks, the patterns and illustrations are really cool! And there are different styles for different people, some young and 'girlie', some more mature. Again, sometimes the prices can be quite dear,  which is why my notebooks will be really affordable.

This is really cool, a combination of butterflies, flower patterns, keys and other random objects, with old text in the background, as busy and differing in colour it is, it is still a nice looking notebook,

This is a more mature pattern, not as feminine as the previous one, but it is a cool, unusual pattern.

This would be suitable for a teenager, love hearts and bright colours!

I am not that keen on the colour scheme, its a little bit too much for me, but the overlaying of London images works really well.

This is very 'cute'! It makes me smile to look at it! The pastel colours work really well and the simple line drawings are really effective.

This is similar in style to the top image, the butterflies and flowers overlaid. I love the blues, pinks and whites, they contrast with the lighter pastel colours in the backgrounds really well.

Coxandcox

This looks homemade, it looks like a collage on the front with an illustration and type, but it is from coxandcox.co.uk for £12. Again, quite dear for a notebook, but nevertheless quite stylish.

I have always wanted to create a gift set like this, even though its not my usual style! It's very happy and eye catching and makes you want to buy it. The problem is, they are usually quite dear!
